Laboratory Testing Programme on rock-bolts and cable-bolts

This deliverable is based on the laboratory work of Task 3.2 which consists of performing pull-out tests on rock-bolts and cable-bolts. The foreseen aim is to characterise the bond behaviour of the interface between the bar or strand and the grout as it represents the critical failure surface for an anchorage in rock materials. Compared to in-situ tests, laboratory tests are easier to carry out and have the advantage of studying the effect of all the governing parameters especially the most important one which is the confining pressure. Further to the characterisation of the bond strength and its deformability, the laboratory results are used to establish comprehensive constitutive models which are implemented in numerical codes for support design and optimisation (see Deliverable D4.2).
